GOD BLESS AMERICA!
Let us pause to pray to our Heavenly Father in thanksgiving for granting us this Great Nation. Let us not forget the sacrifices that have been made by the men and women of the Armed Forces, past and present, in the formation and maintenance of this God-given land.
We have added a new web page to our website for Brothers and Sisters in Christ who have expressed a need for prayer for their individual needs. Click on "
Please Pray for...
" to access the list of those for whom prayers are requested.
You can also access the web page by clicking on the submenu listed below the "HOME" link above.
On Sunday, September 7, 2014, Father Hubert Wade, Jr. and the parishoners from St. Mary Star of the Sea held their annual Parish festival. This year's theme was Oktoberfest. The Parish served the traditional beef and chicken fajita meal with all the trimmings. Along with the sit-down meal inside the Parish Center, a drive-thru meal was provided for those who didn't have the time to enjoy the decorations and the dining facilities. Following the meal at the Parish Center, a 'live' auction, a silent auction, a 'fancy stand', and a hand made quilt raffle were conducted.
Outside the church grounds, kids' games and bingo under the tent were provided for young and old. Also outside on display was the gas grill which was the main prize for the parish raffle.
Inside the Parish Center, fellow Christians from other denominations joined our Parishoners in a wonderful meal and a time of fellowship.
Father Wade wanted to thank everyone who came and helped make the fundraiser a great success. Months of planning and Parishoner participation have always made this and past festivals a success. The funds raised at our festival go to the support of the food pantry located on Strong Avenue. The funds are used to provide much needed food and necessities for less fortunate families in our area needing a "hand up".
